Sustainable Marketplace of the Pacific Concept

The Sustainable Marketplace of the Pacific was designed as an exhibition gallery organized by LEED categories to educate our clients and the community about sustainable design practices.  The interior space earned a LEED-CI Silver certification.

Its formal name, "Hi‘ialoākuapapa" Sustainable Marketplace of the Pacific, means to exude a nurturing essence, as a mother to a child; fostering a tranquil, balanced union between man and environment.

The design center’s goal is to showcase an integrated approach to sustainable practices, products, technologies and services available in Hawaii, as organized by the five main LEED categories. The center also celebrates the synergy between culture and the arts with science and technology through the dedication of space for Maoli and local Hawaii artisans.

"Whenever I think about the future of green architecture, I remember the Sustainable Marketplace, and I realize that the future of eco-design is not bleak after all. The building materials exhibited in their showroom are quite amazing in the sense that they were designed considering the impact of these things on the natural environment.

Some products embody the 'cradle-to-cradle' principle in which everything is utilized and nothing goes to waste. The marketplace is proof that we can build structures that do not defile and destroy, but rather respect and preserve nature. I will surely spread the word about this shop and will look for similar enterprises in my home country the Philippines and elsewhere."
